Was excited to try this place. I know it's been around for a long time but we've never went here until tonight. We walked in at around 7:00pm on a Friday. There were several people in line but the girl at the register was awesome and worked quickly. We ordered a carne asada combination plate, a shrimp burrito, French fries and birria tacos. My husband said the steak was kinda chewy but they gave a good amount of it. He whacked the whole plate. My shrimp burrito was full of shrimp and I can't believe I ate the whole thing! So stuffed!! My cousin had the order of birria tacos which came with 3 tacos. She said it was really good and tasty. The French fries looked kinda stale, I didn't try it but my cousin ate all of it. I like the atmosphere, it was interesting to see the open kitchen. They were quite busy the whole time we were there. People kept coming in to eat in and to get take out. The music is kinda on the loud side but we didn't have to yell to talk to each other. Would definitely go back again and try something else as they have a pretty extensive menu.

Taqueria El Ranchero is the place to be if you want a siesta in your mouth. Hawaii is often believed to not have good Mexican food--and that may be true if you haven't taken yourself of town and to Wahiawa. Here, everything is packed with an explosion of Mexican flavors, you'll want to keep coming back for more. I got their famous Wet Burrito, which is doused in either or both of their red and green chili sauces. These sauces beats trying to pour copious amounts of salsa into your burrito. It does the work for you in all the right ways. The sauces had the right amount of kick and I would highly recommend doing the half-and-half so that you get the best of both worlds. The esquites was a great addition if you want a deconstructed elote. Tacqueria El Ranchero gives every table a free basket of chips and salsa. The chips are fantastic when dipped in the sweet esquites. They also load it up with cheese on top, making for the perfect dip. Next up on the table was Tostada de Ceviche. I loved the chunks of fish that was parcooked in lime juices. It made for a fluffy, yet bouncy texture on the fish while the large slices of creamy avocado completed the dish. The sleeper of the day was definitely the fish tacos. I was a little skeptical because the only fish tacos I had had deep-fried fish fillets, but here, they grilled chunks of white fish. It was absolutely amazing. The fish was still so succulent and carried all of the delicious spices so well. Even better, I didn't feel awful after eating it, like I would've with any deep-fried fish. Service here was pretty good. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered my numerous questions as a Mexican food novice. I want to try coming here at night with more friends, I bet it would be a really fun vibe!

Came by on our way out of Spartan Race and WOW, I was impressed and pleasantly surprised!! After living 10 years in San Diego, now living in Maui, finding solid Mexican food is no easy task. I got the California burrito with carne asada and it delivered on flavor + value. I liked it so much that I got another one to go, to fly one home for my husband :)

Robby is the best. The service at the bar is really quick. We visited in the afternoon and had tacos in the Cantina. We enjoyed the surroundings. I wrote an eloquent review three months ago and all I wanted to do today was to add two pictures from today but I had to write a review, so this is it. I still love the place and I'll go back again and again

We ordered takeout from here. It was quick and easy. There were small tables to eat at as well if we stayed. My sister ordered the birria tacos. They were small but delicious! There were three though so quite filling! They had a little kick. I would absolutely order those next time. I ordered the enchiladas. I'm wondering if I could have changed the meat, but it said chicken on the menu so I just got that. They were just ok though. I would suggest the birria tacos over enchilada.

Ambiance and service were great! Perfect way to end a long work week with their Mezcal margarita and start the weekend with my family. We ordered the chicken quesadilla for our daughter but she was a bit overwhelmed by the size of it so we took it home. Their chips and 3 different types of salsa were good. Sauces have a nice kick to it! I enjoyed my Birria tacos and my husband enjoyed his tacos. I gave this place 4 stars though because the flavors just didn't blow our minds and the drinks were a bit pricey. (We are from SoCal so our Mexican food expectations are just too high ) However, overall it was an excellent experience and we would definitely visit again to try one of their burritos and enchiladas!
